JAS 39 Gripen
JAS 39 Gripen from the Hungarian Air Force will perform at the Antidotum Airshow Leszno! Gripen is a modern lightweight multirole fighter developed by the Swedish company Saab. The aircraft was designed for high mobility, the ability to operate from short runways, and simplified maintenance.
The Gripen stands out due to its advanced avionics, electronic warfare systems, and compatibility with a wide range of NATO weaponry. It is equipped with a high-performance radar and sophisticated communication systems that allow real-time data sharing with other units. This provides the pilot with a comprehensive battlefield picture, significantly enhancing operational effectiveness.
One of the Gripen’s key advantages is its cost efficiency and relatively low operating costs compared to other fighters in its class. The aircraft can reach speeds exceeding Mach 2 and carry a broad array of air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons. It is operated by several countries worldwide, including Sweden, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Brazil, where it plays an important role in national air defense systems.
The Hungarian Gripen is famous for its outstanding display routines, with flares and the unique “dump and burn” – the deliberate dumping of fuel while simultaneously using the afterburner which ignites the fuel and creates a gigantic flame behind the aircraft
