OV-10 Bronco

OV-10 Bronco

OV-10 Bronco is an aviation legend known among others from Vietnam. The North American OV-10 Bronco has excellent short takeoff and landing capability, allowing it to operate from very short and improvised airstrips. This was a major advantage in the jungle conditions of Vietnam. One of its main roles in Vietnam was Forward Air Control (FAC), guiding strike aircraft to ground targets. The crew could loiter over the battlefield for extended periods and mark targets with smoke rockets.

The Bronco featured a distinctive twin-boom tail design and could carry weapons under its wings. Although relatively slow, its excellent visibility and maneuverability made it highly effective for reconnaissance missions.
